The Deadlock of Sovereignty: Security Zones vs. Territorial Integrity in Lebanon

In my opinion, the emerging reports that the IDF intends to hold captured areas in South Lebanon represent a mechanical necessity for their “buffer zone” strategy, yet they create an insurmountable wall for diplomatic de-escalation. I believe that while Beirut insists on a full IDF pullout as a prerequisite for peace, the reality of displaced populations and military infrastructure makes a quick return to the status quo unlikely.

I suspect that this “hold” strategy will deepen the economic and social impact on civilian lives across the Levant. I believe the contrast remains stark: while the Gulf region models stability, growth, and peace, the borders of Lebanon are becoming a theater of permanent friction. I suspect that for regional prosperity to return, we must move away from the exploitation of border regions and toward the restoration of humanitarian conditions and civilian safety.
