Why Cinema Died: Streaming, Bad Movies, and Woke Culture The Pandemic’s Lasting Impact

It all started after the pandemic. Cinemas closed, and no one could leave their homes. This alone was enough to permanently change viewers’ habits. But alongside the closures came the rise of digital platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. Stuck at home, these became our only way to access movies and TV shows, leading to their massive growth. With vast libraries at our fingertips, they offered a real advantage over increasingly expensive cinema tickets, fundamentally shifting how we consume entertainment.

Declining Film Quality

Lately, I can’t think of a film worth the trip to the theater. I used to catch every Marvel release because they guaranteed a baseline of quality — even average ones were enjoyable. But post-Disney acquisition, that’s changed. Big studio pressures prioritize profits over creativity, resulting in formulaic flops.

How SJW Culture Alienated Me

This is a key reason I’ve stopped going. If unfamiliar, it’s the social justice warrior agenda that’s worsening movies by forcing diversity without merit. Films now seem incomplete without a Black character, making me question: Are they cast for talent or just representation? Talented actors deserve roles regardless of race, but it feels contrived. In great films, diverse characters shine naturally, not as tokens. Good movies are scarce not because of Black or gay actors, but because everything feels forced and uncomfortable — especially when originals are altered without reason. The oppression of Black people won’t lessen through tokenism, so stop and make good movies.
