You Wanna Play?
Pick a card. Pick your problem ( ̄y▽, ̄)╭

You don’t choose this game.
The game chooses you — usually at an inconvenient hour, when your brain is half-asleep, and your last meal is still sitting somewhere between memory and regret. Don’t you think someone will see all the carbs you just eat? Someone will always see, and count.
It begins, as all questionable decisions do, with cards.
Not tarot. Not poker. Nothing that offers you dignity or foresight. Just five options laid out like a dare you don’t remember accepting: Jack, Queen, King, Ace… and something that shouldn’t be there — 10.

First,
I know you can’t wait to choose a card. I’ll let you choose one from the five cards above. Go on. Pick one. Don’t overthink it — you’re not that strategic. Just choose already. You don’t have to phone a friend for this one. Finished?
Next,
I know you read this post at your unusual hour. Maybe when you’re ready to sleep, with your phone under the pillow as if your phone fairy will swap it for gold coins. Maybe you read this when you should be studying in your class, or worse, when you should be working. Don’t you see the CCTV your boss just installed above your cubicle? But my best guess, you’re reading this while sitting in your toilet. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
The point is, I want you to mark the time and save the hour number. That’s super easy, no?
And last,
I want you to remember your last meal. Repeat the words and make sure you spell them correctly.
So. Ready to see what you’ve done to yourself? Don’t turn back now.
The card:
- **Jack (J): **You (I)
- Queen (Q): Your least favorite character from a book. Peter Pettigrew? Ha! I know I’m right.
- King (K): The last thing you used before reading this. Kitchen utensils and office equipment are acceptable. Whatever tools in your bedroom are also usable for this.
- Ace (A): The last person you saw / someone near you.
- 10 (Wildcard): Your worst enemy (real or imagined). Hint: it doesn’t have to be a person. Be creative!
The hour time you read:
- Swimming in
- Stepping on
- Cutting
- Sleeping with
- Talking to
- Wiping
- Confessing to
- Flying with
- Planting
- Fighting with
- Hiding inside
- Marrying
The last meal stays as a meal.
Why? Because I said so. You know I’m a foodie.
Put them together and make a sentence.
Let me go first:
My friend’s son is hiding inside a ramen.
Now, love, please humor us and write what you’ve got in the comment.
WRITING CHALLENGE FOR YOU:
And for the bravest and the wildest writers, you can put that sentence in the first line of your story. That’s the prompt. Don’t worry, I won’t judge, even when you said you are marrying a chicken wing.
And you don’t have to ask to be a writer here to send your story. Simply follow us, submit your story, and maybe one of the 15 followers of this pub will read your story.
Thanks for playing! Hope this brings a smile to your face. Or even better, a laugh. I know you need it. Have a marvelous day ahead!
Go write it. Don’t fix the sentence. That would be cowardice.
It’s absurd, I know. Chaotic. But hey! Look at where you land! This is rather an absurd publication. And all chaos is welcome! You’re welcome.
This publication needs a proper footnote like any other credible pub.
