Cross-border Compliance

Nearly 4 in 10 companies have delayed entering a new market because the compliance picture was too unclear to move forward with confidence, according to Avalara’s 2026 Cross-Border Chaos Report. That is a pattern we encounter regularly in our work across multiple jurisdictions.

What cross-border legal work has taught us is that the compliance landscape almost always has a navigable path through it, and what makes it feel otherwise is not the complexity of the law itself but the absence of practitioners who have worked in that specific regulatory environment before and understand the sequencing.

Regulatory uncertainty is real, and the data confirms it is costing businesses meaningful ground but for companies that approach expansion with the right legal infrastructure in place, it does not have to be the ceiling on their ambition.

What has been the biggest compliance hesitation in your cross-border growth journey?
