Justin Kirk (WEEDS, SUCCESSION, ANGELS IN AMERICA) Talks Vampires, Creepy Neighbors, Overzealous Politicians and Rock ‘N Roll On The Viewfinder Podcast

For a little over 7 years and across 139 episodes, I’ve had the honor and privilege of chatting with some of the entertainment industry’s most talented and most fascinating actors, writers, filmmakers and artists on a show called The Viewfinder Podcast.

On this Fourth of July weekend, I am proud to share with you my conversation with one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed and most versatile character actors: Justin Kirk, best known for his role as the wisecracking yet lovable Andy Botwin on Showtime’s long-running dramedy Weeds, plus a memorable arc as the charming but dangerous fascist politician Jeryd Mencken on HBO’s Emmy-winning saga Succession, and his 2003 breakthrough performance as the grief-stricken AIDS patient Prior Walter in HBO’s Mike Nichols-directed adaptation of playwright Tony Kushner’s Angels In America, among many.

Nowadays, Kirk is at home portraying characters — like Mencken — with mysterious mannerisms and questionable morals. His recent roles on Peacock’s series adaptation/re-imagining of the 1989 Tom Hanks horror/comedy flick The ‘Burbs, where he plays the very strange and very secretive new neighbor Gary, and his scene-stealing turns as the sneaky kleptomaniac Raglan James on AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s celebrated Interview With The Vampire novels (now known as The Vampire Lestat in Interview’s third season) are but two examples of the actor’s edgier work.
