Why Ganesha is called Vighnaharta

Lord Ganesha is often depicted as obese, symbolising abundance, strength, and stability. He is associated with the Muladhara Chakra the root chakra, which gives you the drive to live, survive, and feel grounded.

Your health is also associated with the Muladhara Chakra. The stronger your Muladhara is, the more stable and secure you feel in life, and the less fear you carry.

That is why, whenever you initiate a new task, you first pray to Lord Ganesha to receive the initial force, strength, and grounding needed to complete the task and to remove obstacles from your path.

Have you ever been to a forest? There are so many predators and wild animals living there lions, tigers, wild boars, bears, and many others. If you ever had to face one of these animals, your chances of surviving could be pretty low.

But here’s something interesting, have you ever thought about which animal in the forest might actually be the most dangerous?

You might be surprised when I say the elephant.

You may wonder, “Why an elephant? Why not a lion or a tiger?”

Well, when a predator like a lion or tiger attacks, you might still have a chance to escape or hide inside your car or a nearby house. But with an elephant, the situation can be very different.

But if an elephant were to attack you, what are the chances of you escaping death?. If you try to hide on top of a tree, the elephant could simply uproot it. If you try to hide inside a car, it could smash the car. And if you try to hide inside a building, it could potentially demolish it.

An elephant has enormous strength. Though it looks huge and heavy, a significant portion of its body weight comes from its powerful muscles.

I am not saying that if you are in a forest, wild animals will attack you for no reason. In the wild, animals can attack when they feel threatened. Elephants, too, generally don’t attack humans without a reason.

I have used the example of an elephant in the forest simply to help you understand how powerful elephants are when it comes to removing obstacles.

That is why it is important to start any task by praying to Lord Ganesha. Invite Lord Ganesha into your journey and ask for His blessings to remove all kinds of obstacles from your path. He is a Lord who is easily pleased.
