A Predictable Distance
A poem

I had that lovely terrible dream Where you disappeared to see Other lovers and then came back Even more in love, it was obvious
You curled in an embryonic ball on the floor And glanced at me as your companion What is this lascivious animal I found
It is odd, I think, that I ignored you Entirely and fiercely for two days Prior to succumbing to desire Wanting to orbit you like a moon,
Sterile and bright, prescriptive and neutral, A predictable distance from only that one thing
