April 2026’s card reading uses Steven D. Farmer’s “Messages from your Animal Spirit Guides” deck.

Click on the image, or right-click and open it in a new tab. Then, take your time letting your gaze soften and travel lightly over the 3 cards.

Then, tuning into your intuition, surround yourself with white light, and invite in your spirit team (Angels and Spirit Guides) to be with you ~ and choose one card.

Then, when you’re ready, you can read the messages for your chosen card (and the other cards) following the image of my card decks below!

And now the cards reveal !

Card One: Pueo — the Hawaiian Owl

Pueo is pronounced “poo-ay-ow” and this beautiful short-haired owl is native to Hawaii. The Pueo Owl holds a special place in the hearts of the Kānaka Maoli, the indigenous Polynesian people of the Hawaiian Islands. It is seen as both an akua (God or Spirit) and an ʻaumakua (family god or deified ancestor).

Revered for its spiritual significance, the Pueo Owl is seen as a protector and guide. This card is asking you to ask for and be on the lookout for guidance from your ancestors in the spirit world. No matter how many generations ago they lived, they are with you now and offering you help.

The guidance can come to you in many forms: through your eyes, ears, feelings, or thoughts. Sometimes your ancestral spirit guides appear in your dreams. When signs, i.e., unusual or strongly intuited messages, appear with repetition, they can very well be from an ancestral spirit guide.

If you feel a comforting presence around you, talk to this energy. Ask, “If you are my ancestor, please let me know somehow, with a name or a word or a sign. Let me know what you’re helping me with. Thank you for giving me your support and guidance. I love you.”

Then be open to “hearing” (or thinking about) a name while you’re asleep and alert to interesting messages, thoughts, or flashes of insight out of the blue. Be calm and relaxed, so you’re receptive. Trust what you receive. A surprising image may be related to the era or to a project that your guide was a part of. An unusual thought might be traced to your guide, too. If you have a strong impulse or intuition to take an action and feel good about it, act on it. It may have been sent to you by a guide.

We all have a team of spirit guides, who consist of ancestors that agreed, in spirit, to help us, and angels and other energy beings of light and love. The Pueo Owl reminds you that, even if you’re not aware of it daily, you DO have high-frequency, loving ancestors who are looking out for you.

So, make it a habit in May (and beyond) to sense them and to ask them for general or specific help. I like to say each day:

“Dear Guides and Angels of love and light, thank you for your support of me. Please give me support and guidance today for the highest good of all and for my best benefit. Please and thank you.”

Card Two: Unicorn

If the Unicorn most resonated with you, this wonderful card is reminding you that you are a glorious being with much to offer. It’s time in May to express your gifts, interests, values, and talents through being creative.

As things “heat up” on the world scene, don’t give in to thoughts of worry and negativity. Be prepared, but focus on what you like doing. Whether it’s drawing, writing, singing, painting, or other creative works, go full steam ahead. You will have propulsive energy in May to support your creative endeavors.

Allow the longing of your heart to put in front of you viable options for engaging in something original and creative. Even if it’s doodling or drawing rough sketches or coloring in something, get going. There is a “wind” in May that will help you get started with anything that is supportive and uplifting. Maybe you will be drawn to be creative at work or with volunteer work.

A unicorn represents the magical ability to innovate, dream without limits, and bring unique ideas to life that others may consider impossible. If you’ve wanted to try out horse-riding, cooking, knitting, or something else, now’s the time to start! Believe in yourself. You can do it.

Diana Cooper says that Unicorns are enlightened horses with spirals of light from their foreheads. Prevalent in the times of Atlantis, unicorns open hearts by bringing in joy, wisdom, and healing. They offer protection and support and inspire us to choose actions for the highest benefit of all.

Don’t let anyone “rain on your parade,” least of all yourself. Back yourself up with the full expectation that in May, your spirit team is right by your side, helping you to be creative your way. You are unique, and your presence or energy signature is needed in this world.

Consciously connecting and working with your unicorn will enable you to raise your energetic level and assist you on your journey to enlightenment. You can use visualization to summon your personal Unicorn to you, a being of 7th-dimensional love, light, and healing. Try this invocation:

“Unicorns, unicorns, unicorns, surround me with your love and light. I am ready for [ your guidance on my creativity today ] [ your healing of — — today]. Please and thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Card Three: Kiwi

A Kiwi bird is a flightless bird endemic to New Zealand. The kiwi is a unique and curious bird: it cannot fly, has loose, hair-like feathers, strong legs, and no tail. It is the national icon of New Zealand and the unofficial national emblem.

This card asks you to be aware of moment-to-moment awareness. One way that you can do this is to walk, preferably in a natural environment, for ten minutes each day. Take your time, walking very slowly. Breathe in slowly and deeply and observe everything around you. This will not only let sunlight and what sunshine there is, pour over you, but it will also freshen up your energy field or the luminous field around you.

Meditation is about mindfulness and focus. The Kiwi encourages steadiness and control through a quiet strength and stillness of mind. It is a taonga (treasured) guardian of the forest, embodying humility, hidden strength, and connection to the spirit world in Māori tradition.

When the world around you looks shaky, even alarming at times, take three deep breaths to the count of 4–4–4, which is breathe in to 4, hold your breath for 4 counts, exhale for 4, then hold your breath for 4 counts. Doing this will reset your nervous system. It also opens up space for your Spirit Guides to come in to give you a message in the form of a positive thought or a compulsion.

Remember that you are strong and capable. You are from Source or the infinite Creation. Everything is from the Supreme Ultimate / God / the Great Spirit, call it what you will. When we consciously connect to this source as a primordial energy of consciousness, power, and will, that’s expressing itself through manifestations in matter form, we return to our sense of Oneness.

Let the Kiwi medicine remind you that you are powerful “on your own.” For no one is ever alone, as we each reflect the whole. Together, all Creation is One. Thus, never be discouraged. Don’t give in to fear, worry, despair, or pessimism. The Kiwi’s “walking life” is a meditation in itself.

Be the Kiwi in May (and beyond). Mind your own business, while being alert for intuitive actions as needed, to navigate Life.

2026: The Year of the Fire Horse

This year is about standing on your own feet. The horse and the fire element represent speed, stamina, and energy. Horses symbolise vitality, success, and independence, and they embody traits of perseverance, ambition, and a relentless pursuit of freedom. Always choose these. You can read more about the Year of the Fire Horse by clicking on the link above.
