Technology in the classroom?!?!

While being in grade school technology was a rare thing we had access to but now being in college I could not imagine my life without technology. This provides me with a unique outlook on having technology in the classroom and whether if it will be beneficial for students or make their academics suffer.

The pros behind having technology in the classroom is that it allows students to have access to information quicker and easier without having to flip through giant textbooks. Technology allows students to research the curriculum and provide a deeper understanding on what is helpful in retaining the information. It also allows students to find information that makes sense to them and what their specific needs are whether it is reading or audio. As well as, technology provides students with opportunity to continually grow their skills as time goes on because technology will never go away.

Despite all these pros there are just as many cons when it comes to incorporating technology in the classroom. Such as technology could be come a distraction in the classroom in that students may not use the devices in school related manners. As well as, students may abuse technology, in that they may utilize technology to give them all the answers instead of focusing on discovery. Another example is that students may not have access out of the classroom or that some schools cant afford technology.

It is imperative that teachers and students have an open and honest communication when it comes to utilizing technology. It can very quickly be a nuisance rather than a useful tool as well as could replace higher learning by emphasizing technology.
