Healing prayer
The other day last week, I cut the skin of my finger while cutting Sukuma wiki vegetables. The knife went into my skin cutting a piece of flesh off. At that time I didnt bleed until later when i started frying the sukuma wiki. I bled. Wah! I couldn’t put pressure on the wound coz it was bad. It was white flesh that was exposed. I did not think much of it because it is usual for such cuts to heal in 3 days and be well sealed like new. I underestimated the cut. It started getting worse. It started swelling. And it looked like it was getting an infection. The area started feeling pain. I saw all the things I couldn’t do and how inconveniencing it was. It so happened I had to wash someones hair, something I always do with no incidences, but this time, the comb went directly and jabbed that wound and now blood was everywhere. One of the comb bristles went into the open wound and dug a hole like it wanted to tear the flesh out of the finger.
When I say I bled, the bleeding was so unusual. Massive bleeding. I was like what. What is this now? I went got Elastoplast/band-aid, finished washing the hair and told the girl to sit out for a while. Goodness, I started praying for my finger. I cried like my life depended on it. I cried to the point I was almost screaming crying, only that I couldn’t let anyone see me cry over my hurt finger like that. It just began like a small cut but the way I cried over my finger its like the cry of one who has kept things in for so long. Heeee!!! I was holding my head, stomach, almost curling into a foetal position crying, over the cut over on my finger. That was Monday afternoon. Today Wednesday morning, the wound is dry like a wound that has been there for a week yet it had been assaulted by a comb on Monday afternoon. I am healed. Thanks be to God.
What caught my attention was how hard I had cried. It was unusual. I cried so hard that the harder i cried the more I needed to cry. To even scream and shout. Yet I know even a gentle whisper to the One who hears and answers prayers would have healed me. This prayer was drawing me deeper into the realm of intercession. Feeling for my finger as a separate entity yet it was still part of me.
Prayer indeed is a journey into the depths where deep, calleth unto deep. Amen.
