It is terrifying when you are the oldest person in the room. And you are only forty-eight.
All the other women scheduled for surgery tomorrow are younger.
One is a beautiful young scientist.
She returned to her country to get married. During a routine checkup, they found cancer. Cancer in both breasts.
She tackles the problem scientifically, knowing every detail. I don’t know even one percent of what she has already started applying.
Both of her breasts will have to be removed.
Eight years later, I find out she gave birth to a baby boy. Soon, she will have a second one.
Without breasts, but deeply aware of the need to preserve her eggs.
After all, she had come home for her wedding, to start her family.
