Taking the Leap — From Aircraft to Classroom.

Just a few months ago, I was asked to volunteer as a part-time instructor for the Cabin Services department. After flying for so many years, I wasn’t entirely sure if being on the ground and teaching was truly my forte. But as the saying goes — if you don’t try, you’ll never know.

So, I took a leap of faith and stepped into an unfamiliar world — teaching.

I specifically chose to be in Cabin Services because, to me, that’s where the heart of hospitality truly lies. Service and hospitality go hand in hand, and I wanted to be part of shaping that foundation for our new generation of crew. After months of contemplation, I finally began with my first Ab Initio batch — and what a rollercoaster it has been! From unique accents to bold personalities, every day brought something new. I found myself teaching topics that were second nature to me, yet entirely new for my students.

There were days when I questioned if my message really landed, or if the class truly grasped what I shared. But as days went by, a quiet sense of satisfaction grew — especially when students began asking thoughtful questions, seeking clarity, and showing genuine eagerness to learn.

For context, Cabin Services training covers just 10 days, and within that short time, we need to ensure every aspect of Economy service delivery is taught, practiced, and perfected. It’s intense, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding.

And now, looking back — I’m glad I said yes. Because sometimes, the best journeys begin when you step into something uncertain.
