SELFIE
Just relaying what the mountains said

I took a selfie, Oct 2025, at Estes Park, CO & the mountains said…
I took a selfie with the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop. And the mountains stood for the pic, a bit bored but patient.
Stay there, I said, I’m gonna make you famous. The mountains said, why would we care for fame?
It is the only way you know you’ve lived.
Tiny human, we have been here before your species started Digitizing into the ether, before you uttered a word. My feet are billion years old sediments, these shoulders, the mountain flexed and sunlight went everywhere, they are millions of years old, from plates sharpening plates. These valleys and lakes? Chiseled by ice sheets that took its sweet-old-thousand-years, a creative process too long, too painful, and too delightful for your tiny brain to fathom.
All this the mountains said in silence. Their words deep as the forest and as swift as the wind.
