I picked this up when I needed a second head for a travel tripod and didn’t want to spend real money. And then I kept using it because it’s actually good. The friction control is smooth. The quick release plate locks solid. There’s no annoying camera drop when you loosen the ball, which is a problem that haunts cheaper heads constantly.

Now here’s where it gets interesting. The panning base is independent from the ball, which means you can lock your tilt and just rotate horizontally. That’s a feature you usually don’t see at this price point. It handles up to about 8 lbs comfortably, which covers most mirrorless and crop-sensor DSLR setups.
