Sekilist: An Index for Adult Dolls

Last year, I began researching 1/1 scale dolls with the intention of buying one.

I was genuinely surprised by the sheer number of manufacturers out there, basically a doll for every taste (a quick shoutout to Doll’s Castle for their unique style).

Finding Your Match

Guess what I picked.

If you are brave enough to actually buy one (proud of you), the immediate panic questions look something like this.

• Does this doll even exists?
• Will it look exactly like the images, or will it be totally different?
• What do I need to know beforehand? Is this a scam?
• How will the shipping process go?

Trying to learn the ropes is frustrating. There are a ton of sites out there, each with their own guides, but everything feels incomplete. You grab one piece of advice from a specific blog, read a basic TPE vs Silicone breakdown on a storefront, and hope for the best.

To save you some time, here is the short answer:

• If a doll costs less than $1,000 USD, it is probably a scam. That is especially true if it uses photos that look like a high-tier ($3,000+) model.
• A superb, legitimate doll usually runs around $2,500 USD.
• Keep in mind that official photos are heavily photoshopped in most cases.

The good thing is that some companies have factory videos, which are definitely worth hunting down. The next best step is to find their socials, specifically Discord. That is where you will find real customer videos.

Whether you end up reassured or completely disappointed, it is all part of the process.

Why I Built This

Yes, even with a mature Undefined-chan.

Even when you finally know what you are doing, the sheer volume of brands and dolls is completely overwhelming. It’s like buying a car.

So, instead of hoarding endless browser bookmarks, I started consolidating everything into a spreadsheet (Airtable) like a normal, functioning human being.

It took a massive amount of research. It was hard, and honestly, so was I. But it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot along the way.

Amusingly, I initially tried to automate the whole data workflow using N8N, but that didn’t quite pan out. I went the good old manual way instead. Today, it is much simpler to just use Claude directly for research.

Once I realized the data actually had real value, I figured I should share it.

Features and Future

The basic site started as a way to glance over companies and get a quick gist. Then it expanded to products, user profiles, sharing, some easter eggs, and now I am improving UI aspects.

There is also the discover feature, which is basically a Tinder mechanic.

I am quite fond of this since it is way faster to discover new products

I will add more gamified features, like guessing if a doll’s price is higher or lower than another.

The hardest feature (and the one I believe is truly worth documenting) is getting metric insights. I want to tie those to trends and analytics to refine the patterns and suggest dolls.

Hopefully, I can write about that process soon. At least I will share some interesting data when I feel like it.
