Investors Are Watching Chips, but They May Be Underestimating Mines

The AI race looks like a story about Nvidia, GPUs, data centers, and software. But every new server cluster starts with more than a chip. It needs power lines, transformers, substations, cooling systems, backup power, and the metals that physically hold that infrastructure together. If the market only counts semiconductors, it may be underestimating the lower layer — mining.

That is where NRED enters quietly. Wilmac in British Columbia gives NovaRed Mining copper-gold exposure in the Quesnel porphyry belt: approximately 16,078 hectares, or 160.78 km², about 10 km west of Hudbay Minerals’ producing Copper Mountain Mine. It is not a loud AI label, but copper and gold sit closer to the physical base of AI than many investors tend to think.

The copper numbers speak for themselves. S&P Global estimates that global copper demand could rise from 28 million metric tons in 2025 to 42 million metric tons by 2040. Without serious expansion in mining and recycling, the potential annual shortfall could exceed 10 million metric tons. So even if AI starts with chips, it scales through power grids and copper.

On May 21, 2026, a non-provisional U.S. patent application №19/680,101 was filed for parcel-level mineral evaluation, integrated geological data, probabilistic scoring, transaction workflows, and document verification. When investors start looking deeper than chips, a data-driven approach to mineral evaluation becomes much more relevant.

The AI market may keep valuing companies through chips and cloud capacity, but the physical side of this revolution does not disappear. Mines, exploration, copper-gold targets, and high-quality geological datasets may become the layer the market notices later. In that picture, Wilmac, MetalCore, and patent application №19/680,101 give CSE: NRED a place in the broader story of the metals behind AI infrastructure.
