An Honest Review from a Writer’s Perspective

Writing for the past eight to ten years comes with a need for community, a need to find the perfect place where you could share your art, thoughts, and writing.

Nevertheless, encountering platforms that impede and limit your growth, creativity, and artistry raises genuine concern about their credibility and effectiveness.

Simily.com, presented as a writing platform similar to Medium, has given me reasons to reassess its functionality and user support.

As a poet/writer who’s undeniably invested in creation and finding communion, my experiences help to reveal some of the aspects of the site that could potentially give pause to fellow writers considering this platform.

I initially stumbled upon a post on Medium made by a couple of my mutuals, one of them being Adrian CDTPPW, raving about a new site that claimed to pay their writers around $0.02 per read, which at the time was an insane feat to me as a writer.

As a result, I decided to join Simily and publish 80 posts for my first 2 weeks on the site hoping that that would help me build up my page as a little start. However, the return on this in terms of visibility and engagement was unexpectedly low, with a mere 5 views across all my posts.

What added to my disappointment was the unexplainable removal of all my posts after a month of having joined the platform.

There was no reasoning behind the deletion and I had not received an email stating anything related to a thorough explanation behind it at all.

From what I can recall fellow writers had been banned from the platform without proper reason, and if they had managed to figure out their way around the platform's algorithm to gain a proper level of traction (and money) they’d get banned for “fraudulent activity.”

While I try to refrain from jumping to conclusions, the peculiarity of the nature of these actions brings questions regarding the platform’s intentions and methods of operation. These uncertainties have led me to speculate the platform’s objectives and integrity.

In light of these experiences, I’d suggest my fellow writer friends proceed with caution when considering Simily.com as a platform for sharing your work.

The hindrance of user performance and lack of clarity behind the platform altogether have led me to suggest experimenting with alternate platforms, such as Medium, rather than waste their time on Simily as it lacks values, fairness, and respect for their writers.

It is crucial to seek out platforms that have genuine and clear values and morals presented through their community. In doing so, encouraging creative expression and a healthily functioning community that delves towards creating a proper nurturing platform.
