I built PitchRead to fix that.

What is PitchRead

PitchRead is an AI-powered due diligence brief generator. You paste a company description, select the sector and funding stage, and hit Read This Pitch. In under 60 seconds you get a structured investment brief covering six sections:

• Company Snapshot: what the business does, its sector, and how it makes money
• Market Opportunity: TAM estimate, growth signals, and market timing
• Competitive Landscape: key rivals and how the company differentiates
• Key Risks: top three risks across operational, financial, and regulatory dimensions
• Green Flags: the strongest positive signals
• Analyst Verdict: a clear GO, CONDITIONAL GO, or NO-GO badge with a two-sentence rationale

Every brief can be exported as a PDF or saved to your history for future reference.

Why I Built This

I work in AI and data engineering and asignificant part of what I do involves evaluating companies, markets, and opportunities. The analysis itself is interesting. The formatting is not.

The first-pass brief has a fixed structure because the questions are always the same. What does this company do. How big is the market. Who are the competitors. What could go wrong. What looks promising. Should we proceed.

If the questions never change, the generation should be instant. A senior analyst’s value is in answering those questions with judgment, not in typing the headings.

That was the entire insight behind PitchRead.

How I Built It With MeDo

I built PitchRead entirely on MeDo as part of the Build with MeDo Hackathon. No manual coding. No team. One afternoon.

MeDo is a no-code AI app builder from Baidu that generates full-stack applications from natural language prompts. You describe what you want, it builds the frontend, backend, database, and deployment automatically.

I wrote a detailed prompt describing the app: the pages, the input form, the six output sections, the color-coded verdict badge, the PDF export, the history table, the dark professional theme. MeDo generated the entire application in one pass.

The stack it produced:

• AI Backend via MeDo’s native AI plugin, using a Supabase Edge Function with structured JSON prompting to generate all six brief sections in approximately 2 to 3 seconds
• Database via Supabase with a briefs table supporting real-time read, write, and delete operations
• PDF Export via jsPDF with professional formatting
• Frontend with a dark theme, particle background, scroll-triggered animations, hover effects, and full mobile responsiveness

The whole thing went from prompt to deployed application in a single session.

The Challenges

Getting the AI to return consistent structured output was the hardest part. A pre-seed EdTech startup and a Series B fintech need very different framing, but the JSON schema has to be identical every time or the UI breaks. Enforcing six strict keys across all inputs required careful prompt engineering.

The first deployment also hit an Edge Function error where the backend was attempting to call an external API key rather than MeDo’s injected plugin credentials. Once that was rewired natively, response times dropped to 2 to 3 seconds per brief and the issue disappeared.

What the Output Looks Like

I tested PitchRead on real companies across different sectors and stages. Stripe got a GO. Razorpay got a GO with strong market timing signals specific to India’s digital payments inflection point. Quibi, the failed short-form streaming platform, got a NO-GO with regulatory and market timing risks flagged accurately.

The verdict is not random. The AI prompt is tuned so the output reflects genuine signal weight. Strong fundamentals with manageable risks produce GO. Structural problems produce NO-GO. It reads like a first-pass analyst brief because that is exactly what it is designed to produce.

What I Learned About Building With MeDo

MeDo does not just generate UI. It thinks about the full product. Error states, empty states, loading indicators, form validation, mobile responsiveness. These appeared in the generated application without being explicitly requested.

The more precise and domain-specific your prompt, the better the output. I knew exactly what a due diligence brief looks like because I work in that space. That knowledge went directly into the prompt and came out in the quality of the generated application.

No-code does not mean no thinking. It means your thinking goes into the prompt instead of the syntax. If you understand the problem deeply, MeDo gives you a serious head start.
