Who Doesn’t Love Gifts From Google?

May-June Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Explore ”

Proof that my wanderlust paid off.

So maybe the cute pair of blue socks that Google Maps rewarded me with won’t fund a future expedition, but it definitely makes me feel loved and appreciated.

When I received an email letting me know my photos had been viewed millions of times, I was stunned. Sure, I travel a lot, and when Google Maps prompts me to rate and review places, I happily do so. Add in photos. Sing my praises over places I loved. I learn the names of staff I interact with, take photos with them (see, Sandi — it ain’t just cutouts!), and post the photo with a review. Always spreading sweetness and light, eh?

When I received the socks from Google, I was thrilled. Silly me, I haven’t worn them for fear of making them old. Like my mom used to say, “Hoard it until it becomes old and falls apart and never enjoy it!” Sadly, some of my favorite gifts that I haven’t used, like handmade soaps and other fancy stuff, have gone to waste because I’m a sentimental idiot.

I will never stop traveling or exploring. But I’ll only collect experiences, not things!
