Are you in alignment with your values?

I hold myself to a very high moral standard. I imagine most of the people on this app do as well. I like to be fair, righteous, just. I like to see all the sides of a situation, and to be perceptive in a way that makes others think more about their own morality.

If I could see everything, in an almost divine way, would that make me morally superior? I would be in tune with my surroundings, totally on the same wavelength. I would uphold all the ‘right’ things; honesty, courage, humility and whatever else makes a human so much better than the rest of us. But I sometimes wonder if the only reason I feel so incentivized to be all of these things is something else entirely. Look back on the first sentance of this paragraph. If I really think about it, everyone must have a reason for why they try to be ‘right’. For some, it might just be because it is ‘right’. But that’s shallow and subjective.

Humans have a motive for everything, especially in this new world. Are morals taught to you, or are they of ones own decision? Yes, maybe some are taught. They say to “be patient”, or to “be honest”, because this is correct. I just don’t understand how impatience or dishonesty came to be bad qualities. Ok, I somewhat understand dishonesty, but theres a gray area for everything. Say you’re lying about the condition of something to keep spirits and morale high? Or is it really so wrong to feel impatient when another person is completely in the wrong?

Morals, in my opinion, are inherently designed, to rise above all of this. To be above the pettiness, and the human of the everyday. In this way, are morals somewhat a guiding principle? Put in place by society, and people to fix the human race? I think they’ve got some loopholes. There are obviously people who prefer to skew from this perfectly moral path and be outcast by society, and there are some who use morals to deem themselves better than everyone else. One of these options is generally more despised by society than the other. But isn’t the abuse of morality somewhat worse than the straying from it? At least one of them is already being shunned. The other just tries to hide how positively annoying they are like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Anyways, I got really confused writing this. I’ll leave you with those thoughts.
