AEW Double or Nothing 2026 Review and Results

I called nearly the entire pay-per-view. I missed one match, but I was right about the outcome of it. There was one match where was I correct in terms of who would win, and how they would win, but I missed who would be pinned. Let’s take a look at the results of my predictions from my AEW Double or Nothing preview.

AEW Tag Team Title Match: Copeland & Cage vs. FTR

Prediction: Copeland & Cage

Result: Copeland & Cage

Summary: I thought this was a good match, and a good way to kick off the event.

Grade: A

AEW International Title Match: Konoue Takeshita vs. Kazuchika Okada

Prediction: Okada

Result: Takeshita

Summary: This match was okay. I thought it would be better considering the talent involved. After a slow start, the match picked up momentum, but the finish was weird. I was wrong about Okada retaining, but I was right about the Don Callis Family turning on Takeshita.

Grade: C

Owen Hart Women’s Quarterfinal Round: Athena vs. Mina Shirakawa

Prediction: Athena

Result: Athena

Summary: This wasn’t a bad match, overall. It went pretty much how I expected. Athena is an exceptional performer, and Shirakawa is decent, but at the end of the day, I think the better wrestler advanced in the tournament.

Grade: B

AEW Continental Title Match: Kyle O’ Reilly vs. Jon Moxley

Prediction: Moxley

Result: Moxley

Summary: Similar to the International Title Match, this was okay. The pace picked up after a slow start, but the finish was weak. I guess you could say this was poetic justice for Moxley, making O’Reilly tap after O’Reilly made him tap twice in two of their three previous meetings.

Grade: C-

Owen Hart Men’s Quarterfinal Round: Will Ospreay vs. Samoa Joe

Prediction: Will Ospreay

Result: Will Ospreay

Summary: This match wasn’t bad, but like the Takeshita-Okada match, I thought it would be better considering the talent involved, particularly in this case.

Grade: C+

Owen Hart Men’s Quarterfinal Round: Swerve Strickland vs. Bandido

Prediction: Swerve Strickland

Result: Swerve Strickland

Summary: This was one of the best matches of the night. Neither Swerve nor Bandido disappointed. I don’t say this about many wrestlers nowadays, but Swerve is one of the few that I view as impressive, and I don’t think Bandido is far behind in that regard.

Grade: A+

AEW Women’s Title Match: Hikaru Shida vs. Kris Statlander vs. Jamie Hayter vs. Thekla

Prediction: Thekla

Result: Thekla

Summary: I thought this was a decent match. It was a little better than I anticipated. Statlander and Shida canceled each other out, which is to be expected when you consider: 1.) Shida’s low-key heel tactics, and 2.) they’re in a match where the women’s biggest prize is involved, and it’s every woman for herself. Their dissension is what led to Thekla capitalizing and keeping her title.

Grade: C+

Stadium Stampede: 7 vs. 7: Chris Jericho, Young Bucks, the Hurt Syndicate, Jack Perry, and Kenny Omega vs. The Demand, Andrade, Mark Davis, and the Dogs

Prediction: Jericho & Co.

Result: Jericho & Co.

Summary: For me, this match was the biggest surprise of the night. This was perhaps the best match of the night. I mean, it was a 7 vs. 7 all-out brawl, so certain things were expected. When AEW have gimmicky matches like this, they usually go over-the-top and do too much, even for matches like this — sounds crazy, I know, but they manage to outdo themselves — but this was actually hilarious in some spots and entertaining.

It reminded me of the old hardcore matches I used to watch in the early 2000s. While I was right that Jericho would get the pin with the Lionsault, I was wrong about who he would beat with the Lionsault — it was Bishop Kaun instead of Ricochet.

Grade: A+

AEW World Title Match: MJF vs. Darby Allin

Prediction: MJF

Result: MJF

Summary: Last but not least, was the AEW World Title match. As I expected, MJF regained the title to become a three-time AEW World Champion — which he accomplished by age 30, which I found out at the end of the match. This might explain (somewhat) why they squashed him last month. Darby became the №1 contender for the title the night before, and the fact that they were on his turf that night was a plus.

They let him have his 15 minutes of fame, so to speak, with a victory over MJF, then the latter wins it back at not only their next PPV, but one of their biggest of the year, so he can accomplish the aforementioned feat. Personally, I think he’s a little overrated, but he is considered to be one of their top guys, so it was only a matter of time before MJF regained his “Triple B,” as he would call it.

Overall, I thought the match was above average. A few crazy spots, such Darby customarily doing his Coffin Drop from the scaffold on to MJF on a table, and stereo pin attempts, including the headlock takeover that MJF used to beat Darby with after a Tombstone Piledriver from the top turnbuckle, which is what Darby beat him with after several Coffin Drops last month.

The ending saw a weird, unexpected turn by Kevin Knight, who stopped MJF from attacking Darby Allin, who was on a stretcher, only to attack Allin himself, hitting his UFO Splash from the top to the outside on Allin before flipping the stretcher over.

It’s going to be interesting Wednesday night to hear what Kevin’s motives were in turning on Allin, and what Kevin’s tag team partner Mike Bailey thinks of it. I guess maybe Kevin was disappointed that Darby lost the title or maybe he’s taking Swerve’s advice on becoming a “killer,” so to speak.

Grade: B

This was the first AEW pay-per-view that I’ve watched, and I must say that it was pretty good, overall. The best match was a tie between Strickland vs. Bandido and the Stadium Stampede match. As I’ve said before, I’ve heard that their pay-per-views are usually better than their weekly shows, and although this was just one event, it was better than what I usually watch on Wednesdays and particularly Saturday nights.
