And honestly, I used to wonder the same thing.

LeetCode is one of the biggest coding practice platforms in the world, but solving problems on mobile browsers never felt comfortable. Typing code on a small screen inside a browser was frustrating sometimes, especially when you were away from your laptop.
That’s probably why so many unofficial LeetCode apps started appearing on GitHub and app stores over the years.
Now, the official LeetCode mobile app is finally here.

But what actually is it?
LeetCode is a platform where developers solve coding problems.
People mainly use it for:

- learning data structures and algorithms
- improving problem-solving skills
- preparing for companies like Google, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft
The platform contains hundreds of programming problems ranging from
- Easy
- Medium
- Hard
You solve problems by writing code directly inside the editor.
For many developers, LeetCode becomes part of their daily learning routine.
Especially during interview preparation.
Why People Wanted a Mobile App So Bad
This demand didn’t appear suddenly.
For a long time, many people online kept asking for a better mobile experience because the website on phones felt difficult to use for coding.
And honestly, the demand makes sense.
Not everyone can sit with a laptop all day.
A lot of people practice coding during:
- commutes
- college breaks
- lunch breaks
- before sleeping
- small free moments during the day
Some developers even created their own unofficial “LeetCode-style” apps because there was clearly interest in mobile coding practice.

I liked that the app still keeps the same structure instead of oversimplifying everything for mobile users.
It still feels like actual LeetCode.
Just optimized for smaller screens.
The Problems Section
If you already use LeetCode on desktop, the Problems tab will feel very familiar.

When you open it, you can see:
- Description
- Submission
- Editorial
- Solutions
Then if you click the green play icon, the coding screen opens.
The Mobile Coding Experience
Inside the coding screen, you can:

- write code
- run test cases
- submit solutions
- switch programming languages
If you touch the console section, you can also see the test cases and run your code.
At the top, you can switch between programming languages easily.
The settings section also includes useful things like:
- font settings
- word wrap
- code completion
- tab settings
These details may sound small, but they matter a lot on mobile.
Without them, coding on a phone would feel painful very quickly.
is Coding on a Phone Practical?
Honestly?
For full interview prep sessions, most people will still prefer laptops.
But I don’t think the app is trying to replace desktop LeetCode completely.
I think it’s targeting something else:
quick consistency
And for that, mobile actually works well.
A lot of Reddit comments showed mixed reactions.
Some people said:
