The Mind Sees What It Expects
Confirmation Bias and the Illusion of Attraction??
You might sometimes believe that your experience shapes beliefs but it’s interesting and twisted how our mind often pulls out UNO reverse. People often hold onto beliefs based on their previous experiences and how they perceive and view the world is restricted by the lens.
A person who believes every negative event happens with him/her will eventually find evidence to support this in minor events of the day such as spilling a drop of coffee or bumping into someone. On the other hand, if a person believes that God is supporting him and is there with him, he might see miracles in every moment — like getting a seat in the Delhi metro (which truly is a miracle btw). But scientifically, this may not really be some magical force matching your frequency. It could simply be your mind consciously and unconsciously noticing the experiences that already fit your beliefs. A negative mind will perceive everything negatively, ignoring the positives.
Psychology calls this very phenomenon as confirmation bias. Our mind cannot focus on everything in our environment happening together, rather it selectively attends to parts that relate with the existing cognition. So maybe the law of attraction you are interested about is just a self fulfilling prophecy of your mind. When you wish to buy something suddenly you see it everywhere, not because suddenly every shop has it but your mind is actively scanning through the environment to find exactly what we want. The mind is more clever than we give it credit for, like some stubborn kid it will hold onto the thoughts until you consciously force yourself to think otherwise.
People struggling with anxiety and depression often experience this pattern intensely. Their mind becomes hyper-focused on negative possibilities, failures, rejection, or danger, while positive experiences are minimized or dismissed. Over time, repeated thought patterns begin shaping the way reality itself is interpreted, making it difficult to perceive situations outside those cognitive filters.
Perhaps reality appears different to each person because the human mind never observes the world in a completely objective way. Maybe the so-called law of attraction is not always about changing reality itself, but about changing what our mind repeatedly chooses to focus on within it.
