What My Go-To Bodega Order Says About Me

I don’t care how many fancy restaurants are in New York, nothing beats your local bodega. That’s where the real loyalty lives. And my order? A bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll with salt, pepper, ketchup and an Arizona iced tea. Every time.

That sandwich has gotten me through early mornings, late nights, hangovers, and days where I barely slept but still had to show up. It’s comfort food, but it’s also survival food. It’s fast, it’s cheap, and it always hits.

Growing up Hispanic, food has always been about flavor, community, and feeling at home. The bodega feels like that too. You walk in, the guy behind the counter already knows your order, and for a minute, you feel seen.

I’ve tried switching it up. Chopped cheese. Turkey and cheese. Breakfast burrito. But I always come back to the same thing. Because some things just don’t need improvement.
