Imbolc — Catching the Word
Imbolc is often called the Magical New Year. It is a calendrical festival tied to a precise date — February 1st (celebrated from January 31st to February 2nd).
This is a Celtic festival connected with the awakening of the Element of Air and the birth of a New World.
All festivals of the Wheel of the Year are linked to the Elements and to Mother Earth. On these days, we are invited to understand what is happening to the Earth, what changes are unfolding, how we are organically woven into this life, and how we can be of service to it.
We are all created from the breath of Mother Earth. And Imbolc is her first breath.
At Imbolc, we listen closely — we gather information, catch the word, search for meaning and signs that help us shape a New World.
This is a time to attune the rhythm of your life to what you already have and to what is coming in the year ahead. From this moment on, the “dark period” is considered complete, and a new cycle begins.

Brigid Goddess
Brigid and the Breath of Tradition
In modern paganism and Wicca, Imbolc is associated with the goddess Brigid (Brigitta) — the guardian of traditions.
In ancient times, Brigid was depicted as a bird with a human head, symbolizing her role as a transmitter of knowledge: from the gods to the priests, and from the priests to the people.
Later, Brigid took on a fully human form, becoming the goddess of crafts and the Mother of the Winds.
Living in Rhythm with Earth and Nature
What can we do in harmony with the rhythms of the Earth and Nature?
Gather ancient traditions.
Learn to see the whole within the details.
Recognize unity and interconnectedness in everything.
On this day, bring offerings to the goddess Brigid and to all living beings of the Earth: milk, bread, grain. Ask that the winds carry away misfortune and bring joy to people.
Read your prayers and invocations, for example:
Spirits of the air, allow me to see clearly. Lift me, let me know. Spirits of the air, lead me out of my mental patterns so that I may seek greater understanding and higher wisdom.
I want to see. Mother Earth, I am ready to open my eyes. I want to know. Mother Earth, I am ready to open my mind. I want to become your warrior, your protector. Mother Earth, give me the strength to succeed.

Imbolc, Wheel of the Year, February 1st
Feed the birds on this day. Listen to the wind on the hill. Catch random words, signs, and messages.
On Imbolc, priests and attentive souls discern the key transformations that will shape the coming year.
May this year become the best year of your new world.
Blessed Imbolc to you!
