The Best People I Have in My Life Now Are Strangers

First in the list is my husband and second is a friend and we barely speak each other’s language, fluently

The first stranger I met ended up being my husband later.

Then many strangers did come and go in my life. But some are very dear to me that I can’t think of losing them.

I usually read the room when I’m travelling.

I observe the person travelling with me for a minimum of half an hour. What are they doing?

How do they behave?

How do they talk on their phone?

I observe everything I could and only if I’m comfortable, I initiate the conversation with them.

And every single time, it had been the best people.

I believe in my gut when it comes to talking to people first.

How I met the man that is my husband today?

Many of you know the full story of what happened. But for the record on this page, I’ll share a shorter version. This man and I were the only people on the train compartment. He was reading a book, something unexpected happened (a random cover fell on my leg), I screamed thinking it was a rat, he smiled and then we started talking.

We never exchanged numbers but I ended up finding him again after four years. Finding a guy who was non-existent on social media was not a simple task.

However, I ended up finding him, and then four years later, we married.

How I met my friend with whom I don’t share a common language

This happened last month.

We had gone a shopping date to IKEA. We usually visit IKEA on weekdays to avoid crowd. While we were in the glassware aisle, we saw two women, who looked Asian. My husband said they were speaking Korean. Apparently, he learns languages real quick. He has been watching Korean dramas and can handle a conversation, including some slang jokes like an actual Korean.

I wanted to see his skill at play, so I nudged him to talk to them.

We realized it was a mom and daughter. We quickly connected and the family had come home for my birthday too.

I don’t speak Korean.

She barely speaks English.

But our main communication was with energy and broken Korean, English and Google Translate.

I believe the energy is all that matters in a conversation.

Be it with a stranger or someone you knew for years.

The energy will show if the conversation is sincere or not.

It can even give you signals if the stranger is not someone you should interact with.
