My Cyber Security Internship Journey at Oasis Infobyte

Introduction

I recently completed my Cyber Security Internship at Oasis Infobyte, and it was a valuable learning experience that helped me improve my practical cybersecurity skills. Learning Experience

The internship focused on practical implementation rather than only theoretical concepts. This approach helped me understand how cybersecurity tools are used in real environments.

During the internship, I worked with various tools including:

• Wireshark
• UFW Firewall
• Kali Linux
• Windows Networking Tools

These tools allowed me to explore different areas of cybersecurity such as network scanning, firewall management, and packet analysis.

Tasks Completed

1. Basic Network Scanning with Nmap

In this task, I learned how to use Nmap to scan network devices and identify open ports and services. I performed different types of scans and analyzed the results to understand how network services can be discovered and assessed.

2. Basic Firewall Configuration with UFW

This task introduced me to firewall management using UFW (Uncomplicated Firewall). I configured firewall rules to allow SSH traffic while blocking HTTP traffic and verified the active firewall configuration.

3. Network Traffic Analysis with Wireshark

One of the most interesting tasks was analyzing network traffic using Wireshark. I captured packets on my local network, filtered HTTP traffic, and studied the communication between client and server systems. This task helped me understand how data flows across a network.

Challenges Faced

Like any learning experience, I faced several challenges while setting up tools and configuring environments. Learning how to interpret scan results and packet captures required patience and practice. However, overcoming these challenges improved my troubleshooting and analytical skills.
