Acts of Blindness

We are a collection of the sins we committed.

Life is meant to be lived, and experience naturally comes with missteps. But somewhere along the way, the idea “mistakes are part of learning” – turned into a justification for choosing what we already know is wrong. We then began to normalize it, framing it as a human act or something “necessary,” until the line between an honest mistake and a consciously sinful decision could no longer be told apart.

We are all indeed sinners – selective sinners. We condemn others for the very same things we excuse in ourselves. We stand firm on our beliefs, convinced our reasons are justified simply because they’re ours.

And often, love is the very reason. It blurs the truth, narrows our perspective, and convinces us that our choices.., even the most destructive ones – are dignified. We then manipulate our own thoughts, telling ourselves that it’s okay because it’s love, when in reality it has driven us to do the most sinful acts.

The painful part is when clarity arrives a little too late. When we commit the same act toward someone we don’t love, and suddenly the behavior we’ve been justifying becomes unreasonable. And in that moment, we face the truth, we realize it wasn’t love that justified the sin; it was blindness. And the realization comes with an understanding that the act should have long been condemned.
