“Blank slates”
So much opportunity — yet I feel reluctant to work on anything that doesn’t start with a blank slate. Free of expectation, free of continuity; total free expression.
Right now, ease is my best friend. I can easily write on this blog site because it opens easily to me; a blank slate each time.
The past is important. We do however, have this human need to act like everything in the past didn’t happen — or want to. Truth is, we can’t stop thinking about the past. It’s who we are, and we can very much hold ourselves accountable when we acknowledge we did something we don’t want to do again. We know we won’t — and that’s how we learn.
Make mistakes. You have to. Do not deprive yourself of the right. And draw over imperfect pages, paint over over-stimulating uneven grass or walls, or add and add to your notebook, even though the old ink represents many cringe, bad, or happy memories. Only then can you imperfectly perfectly grow.
