After Jessica confided in the doctor that she had a crush on Cesar at the office, who wasn’t paying her attention, the doctor thought for a while and said, “Flirt with him a little.”
Jessica replied honestly, “I have never flirted with anyone in my life.”
The doctor said, “I know you are an Angel girl. But you will soon learn to flirt. Try this exercise. At tea or lunch break, look at him in the eyes for about 10 seconds and then turn your face away. If he still doesn’t notice, try at intervals two more times. Just see if he walks up to you. If he doesn’t notice you at all, I will give you another tip soon. But try this trick for now.”
So, the next time Jessica went to the office, at tea break, she eyed where Cesar was and turned to him, glancing his way for about 10 seconds, meeting his eyes, and then moved her face away.
Well, Cesar remained seated, and Jessica was disappointed. She tried for the third time. But still no luck. She started to feel mad at the doctor.
When the doctor visited her family, and Jessica informed him of the situation, the Doctor listened patiently, and then he said, “Do you believe you can have his attention? Believe with all your heart. In your prayers, ask God to give you attention from guys. Ask him if you want to be attractive to the opposite sex. Believe it without any doubt when you ask this in your prayer.”
So, Jessica followed the doctor’s advice. Soon enough, everywhere she went — the shopping complexes, dentist, optician, and relatives’ places- she was attracting unwanted attention. Jessica didn’t like it. She only wanted Cesar’s attention back at the office. What was happening now didn’t look good to Jessica.
She reported to the doctor the follow-ups. Now there was a 15-day holiday for Christmas and New Year, and so she didn’t meet Cesar, but otherwise, all guys from different walks of life were getting attracted to her, which she didn’t like.
“All right”, said the Doc, “I understand where it went wrong. You should have asked God for Cesar’s attention only. You should have asked Him to let only Cesar be attracted to you, not generally the entire opposite sex. My mistake, Jessica, I apologize.”
“I understand, and it’s okay. You have been a brilliant guide so far.”
Jessica added, “What should I do now? How can the situation be remedied?”
The doctor said, “I am a bit confused. God has certainly bestowed upon you a gift. It’s extraordinary. Many girls would enjoy it. But you are an Angel. You want to be attracted to one guy only. So be it. Ask God for it from your heart, and this time you won’t fail. Believe in yourself completely.”
After the winter holidays were over, Jessica, having prayed to God for what she wanted and believing in herself as well, she noticed that not all guys were attracted to her like before. She wondered if Cesar would be because she had prayed for it and believed in it.
She got unpleasant coughs on many days, although she hadn’t contracted any real cough. She found it strange. Her family teased her, “Someone is remembering you!”
Indeed, at the office, when she wasn’t paying attention to anyone, just having brewed coffee and cookies all by herself, she had the same unpleasant cough as before. When she turned around, she saw Cesar approaching her and asking her politely if he could chat with her for a while.
Jessica fell from the sky, mumbled a ‘yes,’ and was too surprised.
Cesar asked her, “Do you like the office here?”’
Jessica replied, “Yes, I enjoy working here a lot. My projects are new, challenging, and fun to work on.”
Cesar replied, “That’s interesting to hear. You must be so talented as a web developer.”
Jessica replied, “I think you are equally talented as a hardware designer.”
Cesar joked, “Without the software in it, the hardware is lifeless. Would you care to go on a date with me?’
Jessica kidded in return, “I guess then the software would fit neatly inside the hardware. I agree to your request.”
And they both shared a burst of hearty laughter, which was just the beginning of a lifelong romance.
Jessica was extra happy that God gave her a connection to Cesar. The unpleasant coughs symbolized it all. She realized she had them whenever Cesar thought about her.
Jessica and Cesar dated each other for three years. Jessica confided in him about her God-given connection to him. Cesar was touched and moved and decided that she was the perfect woman for his life. Besides, they had gotten along well so far.
There seemed to be no reason why they shouldn’t get married now. Nothing was in their way. They loved each other. As the thought of a marriage lurked in them, they asked each other, “Why not?”
Jessica was indebted to her family doctor and couldn’t thank him enough. Tears rolled down her cheeks when she met him next. The doctor patted on her shoulder and said, “I was happy to work along with a few God-given gifts of yours, which as an Angel girl, you rightly deserved. After all, it’s my profession. That is how I serve people.”
Jessica lit up with joy and remarked, “You will always be my special doctor, and I thank you from the depths of my heart. You have helped me to be so very happy. I wish you good health, plenty of abundance, continued success in your career, and satiating happiness. I will always remain grateful to a doctor like you. Thank you again.”
The doctor and Jessica shook hands warmly, and they left for their destinations.
