Happy moments
A couple of months ago I logged into my facebook homepage, around 6 months that I didn’t visit that social platform, and I found out that a high school friend had cancer, by the time I noticed was his last day of quimio. He seemed skinnier compared to the last time I saw him 10 years ago, but he looked happy.
A surprising rush came down to all my skin, I thought: “Wow, he had cancer, beat it and now he is back on track” I took a couple of minutes to ingest it, felt really happy for him and then, I kept doing my stuff.
Yesterday, while I was taking the stairs after a long day at the office I stopped for a moment, looked at the beautiful sky and I felt fulfilled.
I call this moments my “happy moments” when you stop and realize how lucky you are.
In that moment my high school friend came to my mind, I visited his facebook profile hoping to find good news from his side and unfortunately I found the opposite, he was struggling with cancer one more time, he uploaded his first day of quimio, again. I felt terrible.
My emotions were a rollercoaster, from happy to sad in a couple of minutes. I was really sad for him, we were not that close, actually we just hang out while we both were on math class in 1st semester, but I couldn’t stop thinking about the times we gathered to do some homework.
He was really funny, always making laugh everyone in the room and for no reason I have a capture in my head of four classmates and me doing homework, laughing and telling jokes, our only concern back in those times was that maybe we will not make it for the final exam.
Who would have thought that ten years after that moment he would be laid on a bed beating cancer? Or that I would be suffering from a major surgery due to a tumor? Our decisions and daily actions would have changed if we had known that back in those times?
Doing homework, telling jokes and laughing were our happy moments.
I pray for always being able to recognize them. Because those moments will be our fuel, they will make us stronger when life puts us in our knees.

First time visiting Europe.
