Assisted Suicide- why it’s the wrong choice for death

I don’t know a lot about this topic, but I wanted to do an opinion piece about it since I have been hearing more about it.

So, this is more of an opinion piece but there will be some information as well.

As of 2025, assisted suicide is legal in twelve jurisdictions in the U.S., including ten states and the District of Columbia, with specific requirements for eligibility.

Assisted suicide, often referred to as “medical aid in dying,” is currently legal in the following states and the District of Columbia:

California

Colorado

Delaware

District of Columbia

Hawaii

Maine

Montana (legal through a state Supreme Court ruling, not explicit legislation)

New Jersey

New Mexico

Oregon (the first state to legalize assisted suicide in 1997)

Vermont

Washington

Assisted suicide

From what I understand there are some eligibility requirements. You just can’t go in and want to end your life.

In general, I think it’s the wrong choice to want to end your life when it comes to being sick and or terminally ill. I think a lot of people think that suffering is a good green light to want to end their life.

Just because you suffer doesn’t mean you need to die

God will take you when he is ready, not when you’re ready.

Yes, suffering is sad but it’s part of life. It goes against the human code of life and against nature. You will die when the time comes.

Purposely trying to end life when life is going to end on its own is premature.

It makes me sad to see so many states hoping onto this side of history. I hope it doesn’t become trendy but I’m afraid more and more people are going to side with the whole “my body my choice “and “it ends suffering” side.

I think a lot of uneducated people will be for it just like they are for capital punishment

We or you don’t decide when we die, God does.

This action takes God out of the equation and puts man in the driving seat.

Death should come naturally, just like it began, naturally.

From the cradle to the grave
