SA vs IND 2nd ODI: South Africa won by 7 Wickets, lead by 2–0

The second match of the three-match series was played between India and South Africa. India scored 287 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs. The hosts achieved the target for the loss of 3 wickets.

Hosts South Africa have taken an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match ODI series being played against India. The team achieved this success against India by winning by 7 wickets in the second match played on Friday. Batting first, India had scored 287 runs for 6 wickets. In reply, the hosts chased down the target for the loss of 3 wickets in the over, thanks to Jaaneman Malan’s 91 and Quinton de Kock’s 78.

The last match of the series will now be played in Cape Town on 23 January. This match will be a mere formality as the series has been done in the name of South Africa.

Malan missed a century, the host defeated:

Dekack and Malan got off to a very strong start with their team getting off to a great start as the duo put on a 132-run century partnership for the first wicket. This partnership was broken by Shardul Thakur by dismissing Dekack for 78 and gave India the first breakthrough. Jasprit Bumrah took the wicket of Jamlan, who was playing for 91, and prevented him from scoring a century. This batsman faced 108 balls in his innings and hit 8 fours and 1 six.

Captain Temba Bavuma was sent back after being caught by spinner Yuzvendra Chahal for 35 runs off his own ball. After this Van der Dussen and Aidan Markram did not let any wicket fall. Both the batsmen played an innings of 37–37 runs to take the team to victory. from India

India’s innings, Rishabh Pant and Rahul’s half-centuries

Dhawan, along with KL Rahul for the first wicket, got the team off to a good start and shared a 63-run partnership for the first wicket. Dhawan was caught out by Markram. Virat Kohli could not even play his account and without scoring a score, Keshav Maharaj was caught by Temba Bavuma. Captain KL Rahul played an innings of 55 runs and was caught off the ball of Magala.

Rishabh Pant played a brilliant innings of 85 runs and Shamsi ended his innings. Shreyas Iyer was dismissed leg before Shamsi after scoring 11 runs. Venkatesh Iyer was caught after scoring 22 runs. Shardul Thakur remained unbeaten on 40 in the first innings, while R Ashwin scored 25 not out for the team.

There was no change in the Indian playing XI, South Africa made one change

The Indian team did not make any changes in their playing XI for the second match against Proteas. At the same time, South Africa made a change in their team. Sisanda Magala was included in the team in place of Marco Janssen.
