From Local Support to ASEAN Expansion: GBASE Plans R&D Center and Technical Services in Guangxi

On November 3, 2023, Ding Mingfeng, Chairman of China’s domestically developed database leader GBASE, visited Zhao Zhigang, Deputy Secretary General of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Government and Director of the Big Data Development Bureau. The two sides held in‑depth discussions on GBASE’s achievements and development plans in the region, reaching an initial consensus on further cooperation.

Deepening Roots in Guangxi, Serving ASEAN

Ding introduced GBASE’s informatization achievements and future plans in Guangxi. He noted that GBASE, with two decades of database expertise, has widely supported China’s domestic technology adoption and actively participated in the digital transformation of ASEAN member states. GBASE plans to increase investment in Guangxi by establishing a South China Technical Service Center, localizing taxation, talent, and services to cover the South China market and ASEAN users. The company will also build a domestic database talent cultivation system, focusing on technology exchanges and training across the upstream and downstream industry chain. With sufficient local database talent, GBASE also intends to establish an R&D center for database‑related software in Guangxi.

Government Support, Strengthened Cooperation

Zhao praised GBASE’s professionalism and contributions to Guangxi and ASEAN’s digital development. He emphasized that with the formation of the National Data Bureau and the deepening digital economy, accelerating the construction of Digital Guangxi and the China‑ASEAN Information Harbor is an inevitable trend. He hopes to strengthen cooperation with GBASE in Digital Guangxi construction, domestic replacement ecosystem synergy, and capital. He encouraged GBASE to build on its existing achievements, increase investment, and provide better services. The region offers preferential policies for investment attraction, including tax reductions, talent cultivation, business landing support, and development assistance.

Looking Ahead

This visit laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation between GBASE and the Guangxi Big Data Bureau. Going forward, GBASE will actively implement Guangxi’s big data development strategy, empower Digital Guangxi with high quality, use Nanning as a bridgehead for ASEAN informatization, and actively participate in the construction of the China‑ASEAN Information Harbor.
