Eid Mubarak: A Message of Hope and Solidarity | May 27, 2026

Dear Friends,

Eid Al Adha Mubarak! May the joy and blessings of Eid surround you and your loved ones. May Allah bring you health, happiness, peace, and prosperity on this blessed day.

In light of the horrific attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego last week, we continue to send love, solidarity, and prayers for safety, comfort, and healing. We are inspired by the many responses from around the country and locally, such as the community vigil in San Diego, where hundreds of people from all faith backgrounds came together to mourn the lives lost, to “pray for a future shaped by compassion rather than violence,” and ultimately stand shoulder to shoulder “to build a more just, equitable, safe and kind world around us.” May these prayers be heard and practiced at all levels of society.

As we shared in our Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign Statement on the Deadly Shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego last week, we know this tragic incident is directly connected to the increase in dehumanizing rhetoric about American Muslims coming from political leaders and public voices. That’s why we want to uplift this call to action from our partners at Interfaith Alliance to permanently cancel their anti-Muslim Senate hearing that gives a platform for fear-mongering and vilifying of Muslim communities.

We know responses such as interfaith vigils and calls to action are possible because of the relationships and trust that already existed and had been built over time among different groups and individuals. It’s a reminder of the power in building the infrastructures of resilience and solidarity, not only to weather storms like this, but also to create the kind of communities we all want to live in — where everyone is treated with safety, dignity, and respect.

Ramadan feels so long ago now, but the blessings of the season continue to ripple out: as a reminder of the importance and power of relationship-building, we’ve put together a collection of stories from participants from our Annual Ramadan Campaign, who themselves hosted or co-hosted Iftars open to guests from different faith backgrounds across the country this year. We hope these stories will inspire you and give that much-needed dose of hope in this difficult time: Shared Tables, Shared Hope: Stories from Iftars around the country this Ramadan.

We’re grateful for all the ways you have contributed to the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign and for your work in creating an America where every person, regardless of how (or if) they pray, can belong.

Thank you for being a part of our community. We are here to support you in this time, and in our shared work to build more just and thriving communities. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

In solidarity and love, The Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign Team
