3. Hands-On Machine Learning with Scikit-Learn, Keras, and TensorFlow (3rd Edition) by Aurélien Géron Still the bible. The 2025/2026 updates cover the latest transformer techniques and practical MLOps patterns that actually work in production. I reference this book at least once a month.

4. Build an Orchestrator in Go (From Scratch) by Tim Boring Not strictly an “AI” book, but understanding how orchestrators work fundamentally changed how I design AI agent systems. If you want to build reliable multi-agent workflows, this thinking is gold.

5. The Alignment Problem by Brian Christian Deeply human exploration of how we make sure AI systems do what we actually want. After reading this, I started adding explicit alignment checks to every agent I build.

6. Prompt Engineering Guide (Collective Work) Forget the fluffy prompt books. This community-driven guide (constantly updated) is the most practical resource on advanced prompting, chain-of-thought, tree-of-thought, and agent patterns.

7. Power and Prediction by Ajay Agrawal, Joshua Gans, and Avi Goldfarb The best book on the economics of AI. It helped me understand why some AI projects create massive value while others quietly die — a perspective most technical people miss.

8. Designing Agentic Systems by Anthropic (Technical Report + Book) Still early, but this 2026 publication is becoming the reference for building reliable agents. The section on evaluation frameworks is worth the price alone.

9. Scary Smart by Mo Gawdat A former Google X executive’s honest, slightly terrifying look at where AI is headed. It’s the book that makes you want to build responsibly.

10. AI Engineering by Chip Huyen Finally, a book written for people who ship AI products. Covers everything from data flywheels to monitoring to organizational challenges. Extremely practical.

11. The Singularity Is Nearer by Ray Kurzweil Love him or hate him, Kurzweil forces you to zoom out. Reading this alongside more grounded books gives you the full spectrum of thinking.

12. Human Compatible by Stuart Russell The most thoughtful book on AI safety from one of the field’s top minds. It reframed how I think about reward modeling and human values in AI systems.
