The Sun In Its Splendour

A photo essay on the beauty and power of the Sun — from JustSam

This collection is a gentle presentation of my fascination with the sun. The images span three districts in Malawi: Blantyre (my home), Lilongwe, and Mangochi and are taken while in transit, focusing on the beauty of light in ordinary spaces, with the sun as the central subject. They capture and preserve passing moments, shifting hues, and the soft edges of life.

JustSam is a poet, creative writer, and nature photographer. Much of her photography gravitates towards the sun, often at sunset, because she is not a morning person. She believes the natural world is the highest form of art, so in between writing about the sun and photographing light through windows, she enjoys flower-picking, long walks and hikes.
