The Day I Saved a Life and Discovered My Purpose

It was a cold winter day. I rushed home from school just like any other day. Everything was ordinary: I changed clothes, studied a bit, read a book, and played with my younger brother.

Then came dinner time. We were sitting around the table, eating and chatting casually.

Suddenly, my brother started coughing. At first, it seemed harmless until his face began to change color. He was choking!

My parents froze. They didn’t know what to do.

In that split second, something clicked in my mind. I remembered the Heimlich maneuver I had learned during a school training. Without hesitation, I stood up and performed it. Moments later, a piece of bread shot out from his throat.

My hands were trembling. My heart was pounding. But he was breathing. And I had saved him.

That day, I made a decision: I’m going to be a doctor.

I started learning more about first aid, medicine, and the human body. I realized that saving lives isn’t just about knowledge it’s about courage, timing, and love.

Saving someone you love… there is no feeling like it. And I want to feel that again many times. That’s why I chose medicine.
