three more unrelated poems

they left a light on fifty watt sun on the porch hundred small flys buzz

our eyes ears and lips target of the humming beasts my mouth is frozen

i unscrew the bulb wait for the noise to be gone we kiss our first kiss

two

i will wait for the full sun while you sleep.

i wait with excitement as light fills the space around me

and slowly reveals your things in our room.

as each is lighted i smile to imagine your hands on them as i smile to remember your hands on me.

three

i can sweep the floors and i shall.

i’ll make our bed, clean sheeted fresh.

plan meals to share and late night coffees.

put gas in the car, spin our wheels in the gravel of hennepin slaked history.

i can see in your face the miles upon open road that

know no other boundary but the horizon edged illinois plain.

i can be father to a child friend to a woman

i can call you names of times ago, child names

you can answer when we say our goodbyes i can miss you.
