“Students Must Know That Being a Teacher’s Favorite Isn’t Always Good”

Almost every class has that one student teachers seem to notice more.

They were often called on first, praised a bit more, and trusted easily. From the outside, it can look like a lucky position to be in.

But when you’re actually in that role, it doesn’t always feel as simple as it looks.The pressure builds up .Firstly the extra attention feels nice. You feel seen and noticed which makes you proud. But after some time, it can quietly turn into pressure.

You start feeling like you can’t mess up. Even small mistakes feel bigger than they are. It’s not always something the teacher says—it’s something you start telling yourself. Like you always have to “keep up the image.”And that can be tiring. You stop feeling free to be a normal student

Normally during learning, it’s okay to ask simple questions, make silly mistakes, or not understand something right away. That’s how learning actually happens.

But when you’re seen as the “good student,” you sometimes hesitate. You don’t want to ask something that sounds too basic. You don’t want to be the one who suddenly gets something wrong.

So instead of learning freely, you start performing. Things can get awkward with classmates.

Even if you haven’t done anything wrong, other students might start seeing you differently. Sometimes they think you’re just the teacher’s favorite, even if you’re just trying your best.

That can create distance. You feel like you’re standing in the middle trying to stay friendly with everyone while also not upsetting the teacher or losing their trust.

It’s not always loud or obvious. Sometimes it’s just small changes in how people treat you that you start to notice.

Expectations keep growing without you realizing.

Once a teacher trusts you more, they might start depending on you for things like answering questions, helping others, or setting an example.

At first, it feels like responsibility. But later, it can feel like obligation.

And the hardest part? You didn’t even ask for it.

The fear of losing that attention

There’s also a quiet fear that comes with it. What if you stop doing well? What if someone else becomes the “new favorite”?

So instead of enjoying learning, you start worrying about maintaining your position. That kind of thinking slowly takes away confidence.

You start linking your value to approval

Without realizing it, you might begin to feel like your worth depends on how a teacher sees you. If you’re praised, you feel good. If you’re ignored, you feel like you did something wrong.

But that’s not a right way to see yourself. Your value shouldn’t change based on someone else’s attention.

A better way to think about it

It’s always nice to be appreciated by teachers. Support and encouragement can help students grow a lot. But the best kind of classroom is one where every student feels noticed in their own way. Not just one or two.

Because achievement isn’t about being someone's favorite. It’s about growing, making mistakes, improving, and finding confidence in your own journey.

Being a teacher’s favorite might look like something special from the outside. But on the inside, it can come with pressure and quiet stress that people don’t always see.

Your real goal isn’t to stand out in someone else’s eyes.It’s to feel good about your own progress when no one’s looking.

According to me all these efforts seem worthless. We must focus on our studies instead of maintaining our image.
