Scenario. In this peer-to-peer network practice, you’ll need two computers. Set computer 1 to have an IP of 192.168.1.2 and computer 2 to have an IP of 192.168.1.3. The network will be considered successful when these two computers can connect to each other.

1. Make sure you’ve installed Cisco Packet Tracer on your computer or laptop. You can download it via the following link: https://www.netacad.com/articles/news/download-cisco-packet-tracer
2. Open Cisco Packet Tracer. Once it’s installed, you can go ahead and open Cisco Packet Tracer and log in with a Cisco Networking Academy account. If you don’t have an account yet, no worries — you can register for one first.
3. Add 2 PCs.

• Just click the end device icon in the bottom-left corner (it’s usually a computer symbol).
• Just drag and drop two PCs onto the canvas.

4. Go ahead and connect the PC with the cable.

• Click on the cable or lightning icon in the bottom-left corner (Connections).
• Select the Copper Cross-Over type cable.
• Click on computer 1 and select “FastEthernet0” to connect the Ethernet port on PC 1 to the Ethernet port on PC 2.

5. IP Address Configuration.

• First, click PC 1, then go to the Desktop tab and select IP Configuration.
• Set the IP Address to 192.168.1.2 and make sure the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0.
• Then, repeat the same steps for PC 2 with IP Address 192.168.1.3.

6. It’s time to test the connection.

• Click PC 1, open the Desktop tab, and select Command Prompt.
• Run the ping 192.168.1.3 command to test the connection from PC 1 to PC 2.
• Do the same from PC 2 to PC 1 with the ping 192.168.1.2 command.
• If the connection test with the Ping command is successful, you’ll get the answer “Reply from…”
