The New York Knicks Are Hit With The Injury Bug

They just have bad luck.

The New York Knicks have been hit with some bad luck this season.

First, Mitchell Robinson sustained a stress injury to his left ankle in Game 1 of round 2 and will miss at least 6 to 8 weeks.

Robinson, however, has missed much of the regular season due to injury, playing only 31 games.

He came back a few weeks before the playoffs and, though he only competed 20 minutes a game in the first round, he played a big role in their victory.

Robinson was a defensive anchor off of the bench as he protected the rim and disrupted passing lanes. He was also a key defender against the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid.

In the playoffs, the New York center averaged 1.0 steal, 1.2 blocks and 6.8 rebounds per contest.

With “Lobinson” out, the red-hot Knicks are going to have to rely on Isaiah Hartenstein (more) and Precious Achiuwa to defend the post.

Second, OG Anunby injured his leg in Game 2 and his status for Game 3 is uncertain.

With Anunoby out, they lose a skilled 3-and-D wing who can defend multiple positions.

Anunoby is especially crucial to the team at this time since he could’ve filled some of the void with Robinson out.

Anunoby is a big, strong wing and has experience defending centers from his days in Toronto during their “All Wings” era.

Thus far, he is averaging 16.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 1.1 blocks.

Losing these two guys is not ideal. But, apparently, it’s not going to deter Josh Hart from doing what he has to do to win this series.

“I’m playing 48 [minutes] anyways, dog. Ain’t s — t change,” Hart said after Wednesday’s comeback win at the Garden.

Let’s hope the big minutes won’t wear them down.
