An Album A Day: 25/365
Snowpocalypse 2026 is happening currently. It’s really not that bad, the only issue is that the company that provides the roadsalt to the area isn’t able to get it out to everyone in time. It’s been a long while since we’ve had a winter storm like this, so it’s well past due. My only real issue is that after only about 24 hours of being stuck in the house, I’m already feeling stir crazy. I have to go to work tomorrow though, so it’s whatever.
Today we landed on album number 120, which makes two days in a row that we’ve gotten a suggestion from the same person. I think that’s the first time we’ve had that. Maybe I’m wrong. I could easily check, but where’s the fun in that. Number 120 is the album ‘Flume’ by artist Flume. I looked it up earlier to find the album length and know where to find the album itself. All I could tell from it was that it’s about 49 minutes long. Other than that, it’s all a mystery to me. I suppose that we should just jump right in though, right?

Equipment/Format: JLab Audio Studio Pro Wireless Over-Ear Headphones on Spotify
Time/Setting: ~10:00pm at home sitting at the kitchen table
Standout Songs: Whoops….
Listening Notes: We start with a bit of an experimental instrumental here. I can’t tell if it’s off time, or they are trying to play with polyrhythms. It’s interesting to say the least, and absolutely feels intentional. I’m just not sure if i’m the right audience for something like this first track.
The second track has some very soulful vocals layered over top of it and seems to feel a little more well put together than the prior track. Take this comment with a grain of salt because I’m not well versed in this genre, but in track 3 I’m hearing some serious Avicii vibes. That’s pretty cool to me. It’s something that the average person could really get down to.
I’m onto track 5 and we’ve got another artist featured on the track. That artist being rapper T-Shirt. He’s laying down some some solid bars over what sounds like a pretty solid hip-hop beat. This album was released in 2012 and I think the beat is very of it’s time. I’m picking up a lot of sci fi elements through out. I could easily have seen this being a radio hit back in 2012.
The track after that, ‘Stay Close’ has a very early Kanye feel to it. I’m really digging that this artist has a diverse array of genres on this album. Luckily they have been organized in a way that they all flow really well together. each track really does feel like its coming from its own little corner of the world. A majority of this album seems to be strictly instrumentals, which is really nice to just vibe and rock to, and the diversity keeps it from sounding like one long song.
