I love lighting diyas and hate candles since childhood

I have loved lighting diyas and disliked candles ever since childhood 🌙✨. Even when I first opened my eyes in a world full of harsh artificial lights 💡, my soul searched for something natural, warm, and alive 🌿. Among all things, the Diya called me the most 🪔 — a small cotton wick soaked in oil, glowing softly like a living heartbeat ❤️.
A Diya does not just light a room — it creates a feeling 💫. Its tiny flame flickers just like our own energy 🔥, sometimes steady, sometimes dancing, but always alive. The soft crackling sound, the mild fragrance of oil or ghee, and the golden light reflecting on walls and floors 🧡 make everything feel calm and sacred 🙏. No LED or scented candle can ever replace this magic.
Since childhood, I watched my mother and grandmother light diyas near the holy basil at dusk 🌿🪔. I learned their prayers and felt peace in that small daily ritual 🕊️. After my mother passed away and I began standing on my own, I brought the tradition back — now lighting diyas at my doorstep, with flowers and rangoli 🌼🎨. On special days like Mahashivratri, I light even more diyas in my balcony, kitchen, and entrance 🌕✨, letting my home glow like a temple.
I have been outside India only once, so I do not know how people live without these glowing evenings 🌍🪔 — without rangoli at the door or lamps welcoming you home. For me, the diya is not just a lamp — it is memory, prayer, warmth, and belonging ❤️🙏. Every flame feels like my mother’s blessing, softly whispering that light will always return ✨🪔.
