Cres — Yacht4Day

Cres is a lovely island in the Northern Adriatic with pebble and cliffy beaches and emerald blue sea. It’s one of the biggest Adriatic islands and has a population of around 3000 year round inhabitants in a dozen settlements sprinkled throughout the island. Cres was named by the ancient Greeks and later ruled by the Romans and Venetians, all of which left an impact on the islands art and architecture.

You can see this for yourself by visiting many historical sights like the Cres tower or the numerous old churches and museums. The Northern and Southern side of the island contrast each other in flora and fauna, and Cres is home to fascinating endangered species of snakes and birds, such as the extremely rare griffon vulture, found only in a few places in the world.

The wonderful shoreline creates unique mysterious beaches like the pebble beach in Lubenice or the secluded Orlec and Mali Bok, and many more to discover yourself.

Adrenaline inducing activities like cliff diving and snorkeling are very popular here, too. Another interesting anomaly is the freshwater lake Vran that reaches under sea level.

As expected, Cres has many beach bars and nightclubs where the fun lasts by day and by night. This and other nightlife activities are what attracts many young tourists to the island.

You can experience the traditional side of Cres by visiting the rural areas or attending food and wine festivals, and enjoy some traditional dishes and music in a tavern or restaurant.

Cres is one of those places where old and new form a symbiosis appealing to all, and a place where adventure merges with relaxation.
