ATROCIOUS ATTRIBUTIVES ARE BACK!

EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT!!

Jake and Jill’s Atrocious Attributives on the loose again!!

Atrocious Attributives are intruding Proseland again. Yes, dear reader, these pesky, time-wasting speech tags are back, menacing the reader, being both superfluous and distracting.

The Proseland Courier tracked down the culprits — only Jake and Jill, would you believe?

You can be assured, loyal reader, that they were severely dealt with and swiftly put away last year for this infamous and shockingly monotonous exchange:

‘How about coming out with me?’ he said.

‘Well …’ she said.

‘We could go for a meal,’ he said.

‘I’m on a diet,’ she said.

‘How about a drink, then?’ he said.

‘Jake?’ she said.

‘Yes,’ he said.

‘Leave me alone!’ she said.

Asked why they’d returned with their clumsy cues, Jake demanded that they be given another chance with those bothersome tags.

The Proseland Courier, in an effort of rectitude, granted Jake and Jill their request.

Their exchange was repeated, but this time Jake and Jill asked our Proseland panel of experts to adjudicate:

‘How about coming out with me?’ Jake asked.

‘Well …’ Jill hesitated.

‘We could go for a meal,’ he proffered.

‘I’m on a diet,’ she lied.

‘How about a drink, then?’ he suggested.

‘Jake?’ she groaned.

‘Yes,’ he grinned.

‘Leave me alone!’ she snapped.

We always assure our readers of honesty, quality, and excellence, and our panel of experts had no choice, dear reader, but to send both Jake and Jill (and their cumbersome cues) back behind bars.

‘I think it’s a tad harsh!’ expostulated Jake.

‘So do I!’ ejaculated Jill.
