Video Industry Leader Advids

Why I Chose Video as the Industry to Build Advids In,And Never Looked Back

There is a moment every founder remembers. Not the day they registered the company, not the day they got their first client, not even the day they first turned a profit. It is a quieter moment than all of those. It is the moment you look at what you are building and think, this is exactly where I am supposed to be.

For me, that moment happened while watching a 90-second explainer video we had made for a SaaS startup in their early days. The founder sent it to us with a message that said something like, “We showed this at a demo day and three investors asked for a meeting.” The video had cost them a fraction of what those investor meetings were worth. And something clicked for me that day,not just about the business, but about the medium itself.

Video was not just content. It was leverage. And I had chosen the right industry.

This is the story of why.

The World Was Already Screaming for This

I did not stumble into video. I walked toward it deliberately, because the data was impossible to ignore even in the early days of Advids. Human beings process visual information 60,000 times faster than text. Not 60 times. Not 600 times. Sixty. Thousand. Times. That is not a marketing statistic, that is neuroscience. And when you combine that with sound, motion, storytelling, and timing, you get something that no whitepaper, no blog post, and no cold email can replicate: emotional resonance at scale.

The internet was getting faster. Screens were getting sharper. Attention spans were getting shorter. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, a hungry gap was opening up,brands needed video, desperately, but the traditional production agency model was broken. It was slow, expensive, opaque, and built for the Mad Men era, not the SaaS era. You would hire an agency, spend three months in “pre-production,” get one deliverable, and wonder where your money went.

I saw that gap and thought: what if we built something completely different?

The Advids Model Was Born from Frustration,Not Ours, But Our Future Clients’

Before Advids became what it is today,a global video production company with 700+ five-star Google reviews, clients ranging from Google and Mercedes to funded startups and scrappy small businesses,we spent a lot of time listening to brand managers, founders, and marketing heads describe their worst agency experiences.

The stories were almost identical.

“We paid for a concept we didn’t believe in but felt too far in to stop.” “They handed us off to a junior team after the pitch.” “Revisions cost extra. Everything cost extra.” “We got the video six weeks late and the campaign slot was gone.”

What struck me was that these were not complaints about video as a medium. Nobody was saying, “We tried video and it didn’t work.” They were saying, “We tried working with a video agency and it didn’t work.” The medium was fine. The model was broken.

So we built Advids around the opposite of every one of those complaints.

Fixed-scope pricing. Dedicated pods,a video strategist, a creative director, a motion designer, and a project manager, assigned to every single client. Revisions included. End-to-end production from concept to final delivery, without the client having to chase seven different vendors. A production model that could deliver in weeks, not months.

And because we built it on strong systems, strong people, and strong technology from day one, we could serve a Google-scale enterprise and a Series A startup with the same level of craft and care. That was the bet. And it paid off.

Video Is the Most Human Technology Ever Invented

Here is what most people in the tech industry miss about video: it is not a distribution channel. It is not a format. It is not a “content type” to be optimized and A/B tested into oblivion (although we do help clients do that too).

Video is the closest technology ever created to actual human communication.

When you watch a well-made video, you are not consuming information. You are experiencing a conversation. Your brain releases oxytocin during emotionally resonant storytelling. Your mirror neurons fire when you watch someone demonstrate something with their hands. You remember 95% of a message delivered through video, versus 10% through text. These are not metrics, they are human biology.

And I find that endlessly fascinating.

Which is why, when we built Advids, we never positioned ourselves as a production house. We positioned ourselves as a storytelling company that happened to use cameras, motion graphics, AI-assisted workflows, and a globally distributed team of creative professionals to tell those stories at scale. The technology is the vehicle. The story is always the destination.

The Industry Rewarded Authenticity

One of the best decisions we made early at Advids was to be extremely transparent about how we work. We published our process. We explained our pricing model. We talked openly about what we could do, what we could not do, and what a client should realistically expect.

This was not a “growth hack.” It was just honesty. But the effect was remarkable.

Clients came to us already informed, already aligned, and already trusting. The sales cycle shortened. The onboarding was smoother. Projects ran better because expectations were set correctly from the first conversation. And the reviews, those 700+ five-star reviews on Google, came almost entirely from clients who said, in various ways, “You delivered exactly what you promised.”

In an industry notorious for overpromising and underdelivering, being the company that simply tells the truth and then does the thing it said it would do turned out to be a radical competitive advantage.

I did not plan for that. But I am deeply grateful for it.

What Video Did for Our Clients Is What Made Me Certain

Let me tell you about a few moments that solidified my conviction in this industry, not because they are dramatic, but because they are real.

A healthcare technology company came to us with a product that genuinely helped patients manage chronic conditions at home. The science was solid. The UI was elegant. But nobody could understand what the product actually did from their website. We made them a two-minute explainer video. Within 90 days of it going live, their inbound demo requests increased significantly, and their sales team reported that the quality of those leads had improved, prospects were coming in already educated, already bought in, already asking the right questions.

A Series B FinTech company needed to explain a complex product to enterprise CFOs who had exactly zero patience for jargon. We built them an animated explainer that stripped the concept down to its cleanest, most elegant form,90 seconds, three key ideas, one clear call to action. Their investor presentation included the video. They closed the round.

A non-profit working in education in underserved communities needed a fundraising video that could communicate the emotional stakes of their work without feeling manipulative or exploitative. We made something quiet, human, and deeply honest. They raised more in their next campaign than in the previous three combined.

None of these outcomes happened because of us. They happened because of video, because of what the medium does when it is used with intention, craft, and genuine understanding of the audience. We just built the machine that produces it consistently.

The Technology Kept Getting Better. So Did We.

One of the genuine pleasures of building Advids over the past decade has been watching the technology available to us evolve, and evolving with it.

When we started, motion graphics were painstaking. Rendering times were long. Stock assets were limited and often looked like stock assets (you know the ones, the guy in the ill-fitting suit pointing at a chart). Remote collaboration was clunky. Today, Advids operates with AI-assisted scriptwriting tools that help our strategists move from brief to draft faster without sacrificing depth. We use advanced motion design platforms that let our animators execute ideas that would have taken three times as long five years ago. Our project management infrastructure lets clients track their project in real time,no more “where are we on this?” emails, no more anxiety about a delivery date. Everything is visible, everything is trackable, and the creative quality has only gone up.

We did not adopt technology for the sake of looking modern. We adopted it because it made us better at the thing our clients actually hired us for: making video that works.

And the bit of irony I love most? The more sophisticated our technology stack gets, the more human our videos feel. Because when you remove the friction from production, your creative team gets to spend more time on what actually matters, the idea, the emotion, the story, the moment.

Why This Industry, Forever

People ask me sometimes whether I think about pivoting. Whether I look at other industries, software, e-commerce, media, and feel the pull.

Honestly? No.

And it is not because video production is easy. It is one of the most complex service businesses you can run,you are managing creativity, technology, client relationships, distributed teams, shifting deadlines, evolving briefs, and the ever-present pressure to make something that is not just good, but great. Every. Single. Time.

But complexity is not a reason to leave an industry. It is a reason to get better at it.

And we have. Advids today is not the company we were three years ago. Three years from now, we will be something we cannot fully imagine yet. The industry will keep changing,AI will keep advancing, platforms will keep shifting, buyer behavior will keep evolving. And we will keep adapting, because that is what we have always done.

What will not change is the fundamental human need for story. For meaning. For a moment of connection in a world that keeps getting noisier. Video is the most powerful tool we have found for creating that connection at scale.

I chose this industry because I believed in that. And every client who has come to Advids, from the Fortune 500 enterprise to the first-time founder with a brilliant product and a shoestring budget, has only made that belief stronger.

A Final Thought

If you are reading this as a brand leader, a marketing director, or a founder trying to figure out whether video is worth the investment: I want you to know that the question is not really “should we do video?” The question is “what kind of video, made by whom, for which audience, with what intention?”

That is the conversation Advids was built to have.

And I have never once wished I had built something else.
