Say It Mainstream Media: White Men are America’s Terrorists

Almost every day we view those that are accosting, attacking and even killing our fellow citizens, we are seeing a distinction between how the information is reported. There is an obvious prejudice whenever the attackers are people of color or of varying religions as the media and Trump portrays them as terrorists. But when the circumstances involve white Americans, specifically males, they meander around a constant layer of excuses, without referring to them in the same manner.

This is a blatant lack of responsibility, because a majority of the attacks in America are done by white males and both the media and the public need to come to grips with the fact that we have a problem with the white males in our country.

There are a few reporters and sources that are coming out to the forefront with this information, but as Trump throws constant idiotic distractions, these articles are falling to the wayside. One of the most important was the Vox article entitled: White American men are a bigger domestic terrorist threat than Muslim foreigners -Since Trump took office, more Americans have been killed by white American men with no connection to Islam than by Muslim terrorists or foreigners.

“But none of the perpetrators of the major US terrorist attacks carried out in the name of Islam in the past 15 years have come from the nations on Trump’s travel ban (either the original one or the new, revised version that was released late last month). In fact, the country home to the biggest number of terrorists who have carried out successful attacks inside the US is the US itself.”

Huffpost came out with an article addressing the topic: Most Of America’s Terrorists Are White, And Not Muslim — Right-wing terror is real, and it’s a problem.

“When it comes to domestic terrorism in America, the numbers don’t lie: Far-right extremists are behind far more plots and attacks than Islamist extremists.

There were almost **twice as many terrorist incidents by right-wing extremists as by Islamist extremists **in the U.S. from 2008 to 2016, according to a new report from The Nation Institute’s Investigative Fund and The Center for Investigative Reporting’s Reveal.

Looking at both plots and attacks carried out, the group tracked **201 terrorist incidents on U.S. soil from January 2008 to the end of 2016. The database shows 115 cases by right-wing extremists ― from white supremacists to militias to “sovereign citizens” ― compared to 63 cases by Islamist extremists. **Incidents from left-wing extremists, which include ecoterrorists and animal rights militants, were comparatively rare, with 19 incidents.”

It continues with:

The Investigative Fund’s findings reflect those of previous studies of domestic terrorism. The New America Foundation, for instance, which has been tracking deadly terror incidents on U.S. soil since the Sept. 11 attacks, also finds an almost **two-to-one ratio of attacks by far-right extremists to Islamist extremists**, with 21 deadly attacks by far-right extremists, compared to 11 by Islamist extremists.

Despite the facts, **many Americans still associate terror attacks with Islamist extremists**rather than far-right extremists,[Huffpost lead reporter David] Neiwart noted.

White Hyper-Nationalism the Same as the Past

There is a serious condition that has been escalated among white males and when you reach back in history, you can see that it’s very familiar. Hyper-nationalism is a key symptom of many of these white males. They wrap themselves in a distorted view of patriotism combined with varying views on their Christianity and they look at themselves as warriors for a cause to keep American “white”. The strange part is, the United States has a huge percentage of citizens of all races, creeds and colors and these terrorists are driven by the same fear-based tactics as those in many fascist regimes: fear.

The Guardian is another source that has included clarity on this subject in their article, also by the same author, David Neiwert: Alt-America: the time for talking about white terrorism is now — As Alt-America has grown, especially online, so has the violence that inevitably accompanies it: acts of domestic terrorism, hate crimes, and threats of civil war backed by a wave of citizen militias

“For at least a generation, rightwing homegrown extremists have been far and away the largest source of terrorism in the United States. The most damaging domestic terrorist attack ever committed on American soil was the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City, which killed 168 people and injured another 680. Initially, media speculation focused on Islamic radical terrorists as the possible source of the terrorist attack, but the perpetrators, Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols, turned out to be white rightwing extremists.”

It continues with:

“Despite this grave reality, officialdom and the media have continued to focus only on terrorism threats plotted by Islamist radicals. Rightwing pundits in particular have viciously attacked and silenced anyone who tries to bring up rightwing violence in the framework of terrorism. They have grown touchy about their own ideological and rhetorical proximity to the extremism that is fueling the violence.”

Each of these articles were written before the mass shooting on Feb. 14th, 2018 in Parkland, Florida. And the shooter that killed seventeen people at a school has been found to be a member of a white supremacist group and a Trump supporter. There shouldn’t be any surprise about these facts, but what is absolutely disgusting is that the media and the White House administration as well as the Republicans, play this entire topic down.

Trump Based His Campaign on Hate

Appealing to his base, Trump began and continued his campaign with the same repetitive hate rhetoric that we have seen in the past. Both Mussolini and Hitler used the same tactics to instill both a sense of misguided pride and a state of empowerment to those white people that felt that they weren’t being heard. While each had their own agendas, the purpose was the same and in the United States, we have seen an uptick in hate crimes that have been committed by white males as a result of Trump’s encouragement.

The patterns involved are both simple and complex. The simplicity is in the message that all people of color and other religions are taking something away from the cult followers. The complexity is in the variations of the message and the subliminal undertones. It might be different if the Republican Party came forward to denounce this behavior, but instead, they have either supported it, or remained silent.

“People might make comparisons with political races that always seem to have a small group of extremists, but this is different. When the evangelical so-called “Christians” stepped into the ring, they began to promote Trump and the Republicans as part of their God’s plans. They intertwined their cherry-picked Bible messages and blended it with the hate rhetoric so that everything that was wrong in everyone’s lives could be blamed on everyone else. Very few questioned this aspect of their religious convictions, as it contains the very heart of their personal beliefs. As this twisted version of Christianity continued, it entered into the cult mentality and then mob behavior.

There have been many cults throughout history and each one has a base of some sort of spiritual belief that they are specially selected as part of a mission to make changes and take down those that are causing their perceived problems. One of the main core elements of cultism is that there is never any accountability; the blame always falls on others. In the case of the TrumpTrolls, they blame liberals as well as immigrants and people of color for all of their woes. They ignore the fact that they have made bad personal choices or refuse to move forward with progress; instead, they see themselves and their leaders as saviors to bring their lives back to some mystical time that was ‘better’.”

While both men and women have fallen prey to this sick psychology, it seems that it is the white males that have bought into the ideology that they have to take some kind of violent actions. Not surprising, as there have been many white supremacists and survivalists groups for decades, practicing their propaganda and fearing that people of color or even the government will arrive to remove their twisted idea of “rights”. These clusters of mostly white males exist in almost every state in the U.S., but there are some areas where they are more prevalent. With Trump and his administration in the White House and the support of the GOP, they now feel that they can come out of hiding to spread the hate, racism, bigotry and sexism.

Decades of Fox Propaganda Enables White Supremacy

The extreme right wing reporting of Fox has long been known to be not only less than accurate, but deliberately skewed to appeal to the white supremacist attitude. Politifact analyzed all news reporting agencies and found that Fox couldn’t even be considered “news” as they only report an average of 18% truth. When you combine the decades of this type of propaganda that was directed at the same type of recipient as we saw in Italy and Germany, it created a baseline cult brainwashing tactic.

Many of us may have asked why our uncle, father, cousins or associates buy-into the false narratives of Fox. In a previous article that I wrote entitled: “The Misinformation Fallout: Conservatives Still Taking the Bait”, I included:

“Conservatives and the extreme left share one thing in common: they live in a bubble of denial and they will believe anything, no matter how bizarre, that appeals to their beliefs. Now this may sound like a glove being thrown down, but let’s address conservatives first. In an article by PsychologyToday which stated:

“An interesting study by Fessler et al. (in press) found that conservatives are more receptive to believing false negative information regarding hazards (relative to benefits) than liberals. This is called negatively-biased credulity. The study was covered in The Atlantic by Olga Khazan in “Why Fake News Targeted Trump Supporters.”

It should be noted that the purveyors of these foreign and domestic fake news sites admitted that they couldn’t do the same thing with standard liberals as they were caught when they “fact checked”.

Viewers of Fox often rant the same rhetoric regarding the popularity of the channel. The truth is that those that are conservative watch only Fox, whereas people of middle to liberal ideologies watch a combination of channels. If the latter group watched only one channel it would represent around 75% of the viewers as opposed to the 25% or so that watch Fox.”

The time has come for mainstream media to stop hiding behind the fear of headlines that might discourage their ratings with white America.

We have a problem with white males in our country and this needs to be addressed.
