Life and Death

There’s this girl.

She’s fun to be around, funny without even trying, caring, and honestly a really good person. But because she doesn’t fit society’s definition of “beautiful,” she slowly started believing she wasn’t enough.

And when someone believes they’re not enough for too long, it begins to reflect in the way they think… and eventually, in the way they speak.

This girl gets moody easily. One little thing can change her whole mood. Her mind is constantly filled with negative thoughts — overthinking, self-doubt, anger, bitterness. She expects disappointment before good things even happen. And because her heart is heavy, her tongue becomes sharp.

Sarcasm became her defense mechanism. Rude comments became normal. She speaks out of anger before she thinks. Sometimes she laughs about it later, but deep down, her words leave damage — not just on people, but on herself too.

And the scary thing is, the Bible already warned us about this.

The tongue carries power. It can bring life, and it can bring death.

Not because it is the biggest part of the body, but because it controls direction. A tiny tongue can destroy relationships, break confidence, ruin peace, and even shape the course of someone’s life. At the same time, that same tongue can heal, encourage, restore, and build.

Words don’t disappear after they’re spoken. They settle somewhere.

Sometimes in another person’s heart. Sometimes in our own spirit.

That girl didn’t realize that every time she called herself ugly, useless, unloved, or unlucky, she was watering negativity in her own life. Every sarcastic response, every hateful statement, every careless word was slowly becoming part of who she was.

Because eventually, the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.

And that’s why healing doesn’t just start with changing words — it starts with changing thoughts.

A soft tongue is not weakness. Kindness is not foolishness. And speaking life does not mean pretending life is perfect.

It simply means choosing not to let darkness take over your heart completely.

The power of the tongue is real. One sentence can destroy a person. One sentence can save a person too.

So speak carefully. Speak kindly. Speak life — especially to yourself.
