Where Faith Begins, Dreams Take Flight

Dreams are the basic rights of every child. Regardless of the background, each child has their own dreams and goals to accomplish and when a person believes in them , their courage boosts up to fight for and achieve it. When someone encourages them to work towards their goals and provides them support; emotional or physical, their confidence rises. They get to learn from and take risks for their dream. Whenever they feel low about themselves the emotional support helps them to not give up and continue working and when they feel like getting off the track , the assistance from their believers help them get back onto it.

Coming to the believers, it can be anyone from their family; parents, grandparents, relatives, or any friends, it can also be their teacher, mentor, any social worker; anyone who the child trusts. Whenever they get this helping hand besides them , they build self-esteem, inculcate curiosity and creativity, build resilience after failure and also get inspired. There are a number of inspirational sources, from real life examples to books and movies. In their way towards success and their dreams, there are several challenges they face, some of them are– lack of educational opportunities, stereotypes, discrimination, and lack of proper guidance. Despite facing them , the courage to achieve the goal keeps a student motivated to reach their decided destination. Many non-profit organisations help students to recognise their skills and goals. Pehchaan The Street School provides adequate resources to the students who require guidance and educational opportunities. There are volunteers who recognize the hidden talent in each student and help them by guiding and believing in their dreams. There are many real life examples such as the very known personalities- Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and MS Dhoni who succeeded because their mentors believed in them.

Then we also have K.R Srikath, a person we all have heard of and a story that inspires many, diagnosed with severe autism and profound hearing loss as a toddler, K.R. Srikanth was written off by doctors who claimed he would never speak or lead an independent life. However, his mother, Padma Shastry, refused to accept this limitation. Through relentless daily speech practice, constant social exposure, and unwavering encouragement, she breathed confidence into her son. Driven by her fierce belief in his potential, Srikanth defied every medical prediction. He attended a mainstream school, cleared the highly competitive Chartered Accountancy exams, and ultimately rose to become an Associate Vice President at a global bank in Mumbai.

Srikanth’s life is a living testament to the fact that when we look past a child’s limitations and choose to nurture their potential, we can completely rewrite their future.

‘Small actions make a huge difference’, actions such as appreciating a child’s efforts, listening to them without judgement, celebrating their progress instead of perfection, and encouraging them to dream fearlessly helps them build trust and motivation. Belief is always the first step towards success and every child deserves someone who sees their potential and encourages them to chase their dreams.
